2022 FIFA World Cup — Semifinals
France (4-0-1) vs. Morocco (4-1-0)
Date: Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022
Time: 2:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Al Bayt Stadium — Al Khor, Qatar
Coverage: FOX

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is nearing its end as the semifinals round has now arrived. One of the two exciting matchups pits France against Morocco as each team looks to punch a ticket to the final.

France held off England in a 2-1 quarterfinals win thanks to amazing goals by Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Girioud. Meanwhile, a header scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute guided Morocco past Portugal, 1-0, in the quarterfinals. Each team is playing its best soccer right now.

Can France make it back-to-back World Cup finals appearances? Or will Morocco become the first African nation to play in the championship game?

France vs Morocco Prediction & Pick

What a run by Morocco. This is a country that wasn't expected to make it out of the group stage, let alone become the first African nation to make a semifinals appearance. The Moroccans' defense has been superb, posting back-to-back clean sheets, but going up against France is a whole other beast.

The French got by England despite being outplayed for most of the match. France committed more fouls, tallied less shots on goal and fell short in pass accuracy. Didier Deschamps' team came out on top because it knows how to win. In fact, France has lost just one of its last 12 World Cup matches.

Experience trumps momentum in spots like this, so I feel comfortable trusting France to advance.

Final Score Prediction: France: 1 | Morocco: 0

France vs Morocco Best Bet

This match has all the makings of a thrilling, yet low-scoring result. Morocco has allowed just 1 goal during its World Cup run and it was ruled an own goal, anyways. Stopping Kylian Mbappe is going to be a tough task, but England provided a solid blueprint on how to be successful on that front. With the Moroccans only scoring five goals in their last five matches, I don't see them netting one here.

Bet: Under 2.5 Goals (-154)
