FanDuel Fantasy Golf Picks for the 3M Open 2022 at TPC Twin Cities

Updated:

With all four majors on the golf calendar done, PGA Tour pros move their attention to the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities.

This is a weaker field, but still has plenty of noteworthy names. Let's take a look at three players to consider for your fantasy team ahead of the 2022 3M Open.

3M Open 2022 Fantasy Picks

Tony Finau Fantasy

TPC Twin Cities is built for a guy like Tony Finau. He bombs it off the tee, and accuracy isn't too much of concern with its large fairways and playable rough. While Finau doesn't rank as high this season as he has in the past based on driving distance, he still averages over 305 yards per drive and ranks No. 21 on Tour in SG: Off-The-Tee. Finau has played in this event three times, and his worst finish was 28th. But his best finish was 3rd in 2020.

Maverick McNealy Fantasy

The 3M Open field represents a much weaker one than the one at St. Andrews last week, which opens up the door for a lot of players. Maverick McNealy has had a bright season and he's starting to really make a name for himself amongst golf fans. He already has four top-10 finishes on the season. Two of those top-10 finishes have come in his last three starts. McNealy has only played in this event once, but grabbed a solid 16th-place finish. Swinging the club well, against a weaker field, I'll take McNealy to up his spot this week and finish top-five.

3M Open Sleepers 2022

Emiliano Grillo Fantasy

While Emiliano Grillo has bookend missed cuts in his last three starts, he has a T-2 finish at the John Deere Classic between them. And prior to that he was on a run of five consecutive made cuts. When you take a look at his short history at TPC Twin Cities, it looks much like his recent play. He missed the cut here in 2021, but in 2020, he finished 3rd. He hits the ball just as far off the tee as Finau, and he ranks one spot ahead of him in SG: Off-The-Tee at No. 20 on Tour. The difference is, Grillo has also been pretty accurate off the tee this season, ranking No. 32 on Tour. Grillo also ranks No. 22 in average proximity to hole when hitting into the green and No. 11 on tour in those situations when going for birdie or better.
