Falcons Get Big Kyle Pitts Injury Update Ahead of Week 6

Falcons Get Big Kyle Pitts Injury Update Ahead of Week 6

Updated:

The Atlanta Falcons were dealt a surprise blow in Week 5 after tight end Kyle Pitts was ruled out with a hamstring injury that popped up from the previous game. Though Pitts' usage has been a source of frustration for fans, Atlanta certainly missed its stud tight end target during a 21-15 defeat.

Ahead of Week 6, the Falcons have received some big injury news on Pitts.

The former No. 4 pick is returning to practice on Wednesday, according to media reports. This great news to kick off this week of practice, as it appears Pitts' hamstring issue isn't severe.

Atlanta's passing woes continued in Week 5 without Pitts. Quarterback Marcus Mariota recorded his second-fewest yards in a game this season, and Olamide Zaccheaus paced all pass-catchers with just 39 yards.

Perhaps a week without Pitts will make the Falcons more eager to get him involved. He's logged just 22 targets this season, turning those into a disappointing 10 receptions and 250 yards. This team needs to get him the ball if they're to seriously compete with the top offenses around the league.

Assuming Pitts' return to practice goes smoothly, he should return to action in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds peg the Niners as 5.5-point road favorites in that matchup.
