Eric Bieniemy Lands First Head-Coaching Interview of 2023 Offseason

A majority of NFL teams have officially started their 2023 offseasons, and the biggest priority for a handful of squads is finding a new head coach. Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is sure to be a popular candidate once again as he prepares for another playoff run.

In fact, Bieniemy had his first interview of the offseason on Thursday.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that the team talked with Bieniemy about their HC opening Thursday night. This likely won't be the last time the coordinator is linked to a potential head-coaching job this offseason.

The Colts are in need of a new man at the helm after parting ways with Frank Reich following Week 9 of this past campaign. Reich simply didn't live up to the championship aspirations of the franchise, making the postseason twice in four full seasons and winning just one playoff game.

Indy's passing game has struggled mightily over the past four years, and Bieniemy could be exactly the person to help turn things around. Kansas City has ranked top-six or better in both passing yards and touchdowns during each of Bieniemy's five seasons as OC.

The Chiefs would be sad to see Bieniemy go, but Andy Reid has likely been expecting a move like this since his offensive coordinator became a hot candidate. The head coach's eye for coaching talent puts KC in great position if Bieniemy finally departs this offseason.
