Eagles Get First Word on Jalen Hurts' Week 18 Status

Updated:
The Philadelphia Eagles dropped their second straight game without Jalen Hurts under center on Sunday. Now the pressure is on for the Eagles, who have one last chance to lock up the No. 1 seed in the regular-season finale.
Prior to kickoff in Week 17, Philly got word on Hurts' potential return.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Hurts is "expected" to play in Week 18 against the New York Giants. He made a push to play on Sunday, but the team opted to hold him out one more time to make sure he's ready for the season finale.
The MVP candidate has been sorely missed by Philadelphia. Gardner Minshew was a turnover machine while filling in for Hurts, and his mistakes ended up costing the Eagles a chance at getting a win over the lowly New Orleans Saints in Week 17.
Now Hurts is slated to return after two games off with the opportunity to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs for his team. The Giants have virtually nothing to play for in this contest after securing a playoff berth, which should make things even easier for the star QB if New York decides to rest its starters for the postseason.
