Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season is here, bringing a few exciting matchups. Fans will be treated to inter-conference action when the Miami Dolphins clash with the Detroit Lions. The Dolphins hope to win on the road for the first time since Week 2, whereas the Lions seek to put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Can the Dolphins improve to 5-1 in games where Tua Tagovailoa starts this season? Or will Dan Campbell get the Lions on the same page to snag a much-needed win at home?

Dolphins vs Lions Odds

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds, the Dolphins are a clear -196 favorite on the moneyline (4-point spread) in a game with an over/under of 42.5.

What should NFL fans expect in this matchup, and where can bettors find value?

Dolphins vs Lions Prediction and Best Bet

It's no surprise that the Dolphins looked much better last week in Tagovailoa's return game. After all, Miami is 10-2 straight up in the 24-year-old's last 12 starts. A matchup against the middling Lions is exactly what the Dolphins need to continue that trend.

Though the Lions began the year with one of the NFL's best offenses, that production has dried up completely. Detroit has been held to six total points over its last two games, having not scored a touchdown since the fourth quarter of their Week 4 outing against the Seattle Seahawks.

That's not even to mention the Lions' defensive woes. Here's a list of teams allowing more than 400 total yards and 30 points per game this season: Detroit. End list. That's how bad the Lions' defenders have been and while the Dolphins' offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders, the team has averaged a respectable 24.8 PPG in the four games that Tagovailoa finished this season.

Throw in the fact that the Dolphins have the much better defense of the two teams and it's clear that Miami should win this game. While a moneyline bet is fine here, the Dolphins are good enough to cover the 4-point spread.

Nevertheless, both teams also have several offensively talented players. Even with the Lions' struggles, the Dolphins have allowed 27-plus points on three occasions, so I'll back the total going over 42.5 points.
