Dolphins Give Update on Tyreek Hill's Week 5 Status After Quad Injury

Updated:

The Miami Dolphins offense is in a tough spot now that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is sidelined with a concussion. Things became worse on Thursday after No. 1 wide receiver Tyreek Hill was added to the injury report with a hamstring injury.

Unfortunately, the latest update on Hill's situation is somewhat concerning. Team insider Barry Jackson reported Friday that the Dolphins are currently "treating" the wideout's injury and that head coach Mike McDaniel is "hopeful" that Hill can face the New York Jets this weekend.

Tyreek Hill Injury Update

Chances are that Hill tweaked his hamstring during Thursday's practice. His status during Friday's session will give fans a better idea as to whether or not he'll suit up against the rival Jets.

Losing Hill even for a week would be a blow to Miami's banged-up offense. The six-time Pro-Bowler leads the NFL with 477 receiving yards as of Week 5, also pacing his team in targets (43) and receptions (31) while only trailing fellow WR Jaylen Waddle with two receiving touchdowns.

Even if Hill plays through his injury, he might not be as effective. Most of the damage he does is because he's one of the league's fastest wideouts, so any ailment affecting his lower body will likely hinder his production.

Nevertheless, Hill's only missed one game since the start of the 2020 season, proving how tough he can be. He's made it clear that he plans to produce offensively, regardless of who's under center, so look for him to do whatever it takes to get back into the lineup so he can help his Dolphins beat the Jets.

Despite injuries to key offensive players, things still look promising for Miami. For the time being, the Dolphins are the 3-point road favorites over the Jets with -120 odds to cover the spread, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
