D.K. Metcalf Stats Against Man and Press Coverage are Insane

Updated:

If you watched Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf play last season, it was easy to see that he had a successful rookie season. In fact, most would say he well surpassed the expectations he had coming in as a second-round pick with a couple of questionable numbers in drills at the NFL Combine.

When you take a look at some more advanced stats, it paints an even more impressive season from the now second-year wideout.

In 2019, Metcalf was incredible against press and man coverage. He ranked in the 85th percentile in success rate against man coverage among measured wide receivers, as well as in the 79th percentile against press coverage.

Furthermore, he ranked above the 60th percentile in all but two type of routes on the route tree. That's especially impressive considering one of the top concerns about his rookie year outlook was that he may struggles as a route-runner.

If Metcalf can further improve on these numbers in 2020, he will truly take a step into the No. 1 receiver conversation and could end up being a steal in some fantasy football drafts.
