DJ Turner II Scouting Report
DJ Turner II impressed in his final campaign as a Wolverine, finishing with 36 tackles, 10 broken-up passes (No. 8 in Big Ten), an interception, and a fumble recovered for a touchdown. His efforts as a senior earned him second-team All-Big Ten honors for the first time.
Turner's speed helps him thrive as a cornerback, as does his ability to turn his hips on a dime. He knows how to read a quarterback's eyes, helping him be in the right place at the right time. His performance at the combine last month was also impressive, highlighted by a 40-yard dash time of 4.26 seconds.
It's not all perfect, though. Some scouts don't like the fact that Turner isn't that great in zone coverage. He also only produced three interceptions during his collegiate career, putting a cap on his draft stock. He isn't that strong either, meaning he could have trouble tackling bigger ball carriers.
DJ Turner II NFL Draft Prediction
The highlighted mock drafts point to Turner being taken within the first three rounds and it's hard to disagree. Even though he didn't produce that many INTs, he's still a CB prospect with a high upside that could reach his potential in the right situation.
The LA Rams are projected by two mocks to draft Turner and seem like a good fit. After all, the Rams finished in the bottom half of the NFL when it came to completions and passing yards allowed. Los Angeles could also use a cornerback with high upside after trading Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins this offseason.
With a trio of picks on Day 2, I could see the Rams taking a swing at Turner.
Prediction: LA Rams (Round 3, 69th overall)
