After being completely embarrassed in Game 3, the Hurricanes bounced back with a huge 6-1 victory over the Devils on Tuesday. Frederik Andersen also returned to form in goal, making 21 saves on 22 shots.

Devils vs Hurricanes Betting Trends

  • New Jersey is 3-8 straight up (SU) in its last 11 games against Carolina.
  • Carolina is 7-1 SU in its last eight home games.
  • The total has hit the Over in eight of New Jersey's last 12 road games.
  • The total has hit the Over in six of Carolina's last seven games against New Jersey.

Devils vs Hurricanes Prediction & Pick

The Hurricanes showed a lot of guts in their 6-1 victory Tuesday night. It's not easy bouncing back from an 8-4 loss, but they did so by playing a different defensive game. Not only did the Hurricanes hold the Devils to just 22 shots on goal, but they also forced them to cough the puck up 26 times. For reference, Carolina had just 2 turnovers.

Andersen's return to form is another reason why I see the Hurricanes winning Game 5. The Swedish product has been the best goaltender in the series, going 3-0 while allowing 7 goals on 81 shots for a .914 save percentage. Meanwhile, both members of the Devils' goaltending tandem have played to a sub-.900 SV% through four contests.

The Hurricanes have also won six of their past seven home games against the Devils, putting them in an even better position to eliminate the opposition at PNC Arena.

Final Score Prediction: Hurricanes: 5 | Devils: 3

Devils vs Hurricanes Best Bet

Taking the Over on the projected point total has paid off so far in this series. The Hurricanes and Devils have averaged exactly 8 combined goals thus far, finishing with more than 5.5 in all four previous meetings. As a result, the Over is now 5-1 in New Jersey's past six games, 4-1 in Carolina's last five, and 6-1 in the previous seven Devils-Hurricanes tilts.

With both sides proving that they can fill the net with ease on any given night, it's a good move to back the Over once again.

Bet: Over 5.5 Goals (-120)
