Devils vs Rangers Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for NHL Playoffs Game 4 (New York Gets Back on Track in Close Clash)

Updated:

The 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Monday, April 24, featuring the New York Rangers hosting the New Jersey Devils for Game 4 of their series.

Devils vs Rangers Game 4 Info

  • Date: Monday, April 23, 2023

After opening the series with back-to-back losses, the Devils exacted some revenge with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Rangers on Saturday. Defenseman Dougie Hamilton scored his first goal of the playoffs to win it for New Jersey as goaltender Akira Schmid made 35 saves on 36 shots.

Devils vs Rangers Betting Trends

  • New Jersey is 6-3 straight up in its last nine games on a Monday.
  • The Rangers are 12-5 straight up in their last 17 games against New Jersey.
  • The total has hit the over in eight of New Jersey's last 11 road games against the Rangers.
  • The total has hit the under in five of the Rangers' last seven games.

Devils vs Rangers Prediction & Pick

Even though the Rangers came out on the losing end in Game 3, they still got the better of the Devils in multiple areas. New York had the advantage in shots (36-28), faceoffs (37-25), and takeaways (15-10). The deciding factor was that the Rangers' power play (No. 2 in the playoffs at 32.1%) went 0-for-5 on the night.

At the end of the day, the bounces didn't go the Rangers' way but don't count on that happening again. After all, they're 12-6 straight up in their last 18 home games for a reason. As long as they continue what's made them successful, the bounces will come their way.

I also don't see the Devils getting another lights-out performance from Schmid again. As great as the backup goaltender was in his postseason debut, it's worth noting that was just his 25th NHL game. He might be the real deal, but I see it being more likely that he regresses tonight, opening the door for another Rangers' victory.

Final Score Prediction: Rangers: 3 | Devils: 2

Devils vs Rangers Best Bet

For tonight's best bet, I'm going with Rangers' forward Patrick Kane recording one-plus assist at +114 odds. The future Hall-of-Famer has racked up eight assists over his last seven games and has picked up at least one in each of the three meetings so far this series.

Furthermore, Kane has 17 assists in his last 18 encounters with the Devils, going without a helper only thrice over that span. In other words, chances are pretty good that the veteran will set up at least one teammate for a goal tonight.

Bet: Patrick Kane to Record 1+ Assist (+114)
