Lewis vs Spivac Prediction

Serghei Spivac has been ascending in the heavyweight class thanks to five win is his last six bouts. He enters this fight ranked No. 12 and has a chance to earn yet another statement victory over the No. 8-ranked Derrick Lewis. A win would help catapult him into title contention at some point in 2023.

Lewis has dropped three of his last four bouts, all via knockout. The 37-year-old possesses one of the most powerful punches in the sport, but has become accustomed to losing to fighters capable of grappling on the ground. His lack of experience in that area leaves him vulnerable when defending.

Of course, one of Spivac's greatest strengths is bullying opponents who cannot keep up when on the ground with his sound technique. He averages 4.1 takedowns per 15 minutes and owns a takedown accuracy mark of 63%. Watch out because Lewis' takedown defense rate only checks in at 55%.

I'll side with Serghei Spivac to come out on top.

Lewis vs Spivac Best Bet

Backing Spivac as a -225 favorite is a perfectly safe option here, but bettors may be looking for a bit of a bigger payout. In that case, targeting this fight to not go the distance is the way to go. Keep in mind Spivac hasn't been involved in a showdown that has gone the distance since June of 2021.

On the other side, Lewis hasn't been a part of a fight that has gone the distance since February of 2020. Both of these fighters have proven they are fully capable of ending a bout with a single punch. Expect Lewis and Spivac to come out of the gate with an aggressive approach, leading to an early KO.

Bet: Fight to Not Go the Distance
