Dark Horse Picks to Win PGA 2023 Genesis Invitational on FanDuel Sportsbook (Cameron Young Makes Another Run)

Updated:

The PGA Tour's second $20 million purse of 2023 is at The Genesis Invitational, which follows Scottie Scheffler's win in the WM Phoenix Open and return to world No. 1 ranking. This week at Riviera Country Club, 19 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Rankings and 96 of the top 100 tee it up at famed Riviera outside Los Angeles - a traditional tree-lined Par 71 course that plays to approx. 7,322 yards.

Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau and Max Homa top the odds board to win at 20/1 or less. And Tiger Woods makes his first non-major PGA Tour start since Oct., 2020, and Woods is a major longshot (+12000) to win in his return.

Following wins by dark horse picks and longshot winners Max Homa in the Farmers Insurance Open and Adam Svensson in the RSM Classic, there are opportunities to cash in on other players behind the leading favorites including for a top-10 or top-20 finish.

Beyond the favorites, there are plenty of capable longshots and dark horses that could make a run at the leaderboard and come away with a higher finish or victory on Sunday. Check out The Genesis Invitational odds to win along with finishing position odds, tournament matchups and golf props on FanDuel Sportsbook.

1. Viktor Hovland (+2900)

Hovland is a pick to win in the Genesis tournament preview, and the 25-year-old Norwegian has finished T-4 and T-5 in his two starts the last two years. His all around skill set with solid tee-to-green game and ball striking ability make him a contender again on the narrow fairways and tight doglegs at Riviera.

2. Cameron Young (+3100)

A loaded field but Cameron Young at these odds looks good as he finished T-2 in his debut in this event last year. He shot 66 Thursday and 62 on Friday and clearly showed his overall skill set at Riviera. Young's putting and short game have been holding him back from higher finishes this season, but the 2022 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year has a top-tier game in Strokes Gained (SG): Off-the-Tee and SG: Tee-to-Green. Young had his best week putting here last year while also being stronger on Approach play. Taking +300 for a top-10 finish is a viable option when playing for profit as well.

3. Adam Scott (+5500)

Scott has his work cut out against this loaded field, but the 42-year-old Masters champ won this event in 2020 and also has a T-7 and T-4 last year. His game and confidence is strong at Riviera, and on a select PGA Tour schedule, Scott has a pair of top-5 finishes and two other top-25s in his last five starts. Could he challenge again, or at least hit for a top-10 (+550) or top 20 (+250) finish? Why not.
