Patrick Mahomes has been arguably the best quarterback in the NFL since he became the Kansas City Chiefs' full-time starter in 2018. Now in his fifth full season, he's having what might be the greatest season of his career so far and has some wild stats to prove it.

Mahomes already has 29 passing touchdowns through 11 games, which leads the NFL. That's not the crazy stat, though. Mahomes has more passing touchdowns inside the 10-yard line than 27 of the other 31 NFL teams have in totality.

That is just an insane number to think about. Passing for touchdowns near the goal line is difficult because the defense is backed up against the end zone, leaving little room for receivers to get open. That's why teams often prefer to run the ball near the goal line, as passing into such a crowded area can be both challenging a risky.

Not for Mahomes, though. Granted, it helps that he has one of the best red zone weapons on the planet in Travis Kelce. It also helps that he has Andy Reid calling plays for him. But at the end of the day, Mahomes is the one making the throws and deserves credit for them.

Mahomes' success is even more impressive this year given the offseason departure of Tyreek Hill. Kansas City's offense hasn't skipped a beat without him, though, leading the NFL in points per game (29.6), yards per game and a host of other categories.

No wonder Mahomes is favored to win his second MVP award. He currently has the best odds on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL MVP odds at -150. As long as he stays healthy and doesn't suffer a massive drop-off in performance, the trophy should be his.
