The Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs meet head-to-head in NFL preseason action on Saturday. Washington will be looking to bounce back following their 23-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Rookie quarterback Sam Howell led the way in that one with a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs blew a 14-point halftime lead to the Chicago Bears in what ended up being a 19-14 loss. Their starters looked stellar, but backup quarterbacks Dustin Crum and Shane Buechele failed to impress. Wide receiver Justin Watson racked up 45 yards and 1 TD on 5 receptions.

Moneyline: WSH: (+140) | KC: (-165)
Spread: WSH: +3 (-110) | KC: -3 (-110)
Total: 41.5 — Over: (-110) | Under: (-110)

The Chiefs enter this contest as a small favorite on the moneyline and the spread. This 4 p.m. ET clash also features the highest total of Saturday's nine-game preseason slate.

Commanders vs Chiefs Prediction & Pick

This one could come down to which team grabs a lead with their starters on the field. Quarterback Carson Wentz is still adjusting to Washington's offense and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid continues to prepare a different scheme than last season. That means we could see extended starter snaps.

Momentum leans to the side of Kansas City in that case. Mahomes looked crisp last weekend, completing six of his seven pass attempts for 60 yards and a touchdown. With another week of practice under their belts, Buechele and Crum should do enough to keep a multi-TD lead intact this time.

Final Score Prediction: Commanders: 17 | Chiefs: 21

Commanders vs Chiefs Betting Trends

- Washington is 0-10 straight up in its last 10 games against Kansas City.
- The total has hit the under in nine of Washington's last 13 games.
- Kansas City is 6-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last six home games against Washington.
- The total has hit the over in seven of Kansas City's last nine games.

Commanders vs Chiefs Best Bet

Backing the under is certainly a risky bet after 11 of the 16 preseason games last weekend saw more than 41 points be scored. However, there's a lot to like about a potential defensive showdown here. Washington and Kansas City combined to score 15 points in the second half of their Week 1 games.

That means the backups were struggling to get anything going on offense. Taylor Heinicke of the Commanders and Buechele of the Chiefs both threw interceptions, too. While the starters could get this game off to a hot start, the lack of talented depth will cause the under to just barely hit here.

Bet: Under 41.5 points (-110)
