Commanders Get Encouraging Injury Update on Potential Chase Young Injury Return

Updated:

Former No. 2 overall pick and star defensive end Chase Young has yet to suit up in 2022 for the Washington Commanders as he still recovers from a torn right ACL and MCL he suffered last November. He was placed on IR to start the season which meant he would be required to miss at least the first four games of the season. Now, as we prepare to enter Week 7 of the season, we have an update on Young's status.

Chase Young Injury Update

He is expected to see Dr. Andrews on Sunday which, if cleared by him, will mean Young can start practicing next week. From there his viability to actually get on the field during games will be determined, but the Commanders Week 8 game against the Indianapolis Colts sounds like it's still on the table.

The Commanders haven't had any trouble getting to the quarterback this season, despite being without their best pass rusher. Washington is tied for 4th in the NFL in sacks per game with 3.2 per game, but whne it comes to overall scoring defense, Washington ranks No. 18 in the NFL. It's hard to believe a young star EDGE rusher like young wouldn't help both of those.

Washington is a 4.5-point home underdog against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
