Wednesday's 10-game NBA slate includes a matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers on ESPN. Minnesota is coming off back-to-back road against the Portland Trail Blazers after opening its road trip strong with a win over the Utah Jazz.

The Clippers, meanwhile, have won each of their last two outings after dominating the Boston Celtics, 113-93, on Monday night.

  • The Clippers went 38-42-2 ATS last season.
  • Against the spread, as underdogs of 6.5 points or greater, the Timberwolves went 5-5 last season.
  • The Clippers and their opponents combined to go over the point total 40 out of 82 times last season.
  • Out of 82 Timberwolves games last year, 49 hit the over.

Clippers vs. Timberwolves Prediction & Pick

These are two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to defense. The Clippers are elite in that area, ranking fourth in fewest PPG allowed and claiming the sixth-best defensive rating in the league. The Wolves have struggled mightily on that end of the floor, however, giving up the fourth-most PPG to this point despite trading for Rudy Gobert.

Minnesota is No. 9 in scoring as a team while LA is 29th, but Chris Finch's squad is without Karl-Anthony Towns, which severely downgrades the Wolves. With Kawhi Leonard looking more and more like himself lately, I think the Clippers cruise in this one.

Final Score Prediction: Timberwolves: 105 | Clippers: 115

Clippers vs. Timberwolves Best Bet

Speaking of Leonard, he's been stuffing the stat sheet lately. He's racked up at least 6 rebounds in each of his past four games as he continues to get back into MVP form following his ACL tear. Most notably, Leonard has logged at least 28 minutes in every contest during this stretch, which is another sign that his confidence is growing after his playing time was capped earlier in the year.

The absence of Towns should create a massive opening in the paint, making it even easier for Leonard to clear this rebound total.

Bet: Kawhi Leonard: Over 5.5 Rebounds (-140)
