Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Outlook Gets Major Boost After Friday's Injury Update

Whenever fantasy managers see running back Christian McCaffrey's name connected to an injury, a bit of panic starts to set in. After all, the Carolina Panthers star has only played in 13 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season. The good news is that Friday's update is completely positive.

McCaffrey was back on the practice field on Friday morning after being listed as a non-participant on Wednesday and Thursday. He is not even wearing a non-contact jersey as he deals with a quad issue, either. Carolina's coaching staff has been optimistic all week when asked about McCaffrey's status.

Seeing the 26-year-old suit up is a massive step in the right direction and shows that his injury is not as serious as the ones he has suffered in years past. The likeliest outcome remains that McCaffrey enters the weekend with a "questionable" tag, but he is going to everything he can to play in Week 4.

If McCaffrey is ruled active, fantasy managers should not hesitate to keep him in a starting RB slot. The Stanford product ranks as the No. 11 RB in PPR-scoring fantasy football leagues and has seen an average of 20.0 touches per game. He has also crossed the 100-yard mark twice in three contests.

Arizona ranks in the middle of the pack against the run this season, giving up an average of 4.5 yards per carry (No. 17 in NFL). It's worth mentioning the Cardinals have allowed 2 receiving touchdowns to opposing RBs, though. McCaffrey's pass-catching skills will be on display in this 4:25 p.m. ET game.
