Chris Olave Earns Rave Reviews After Wednesday’s Saints Practice

Updated:

The New Orleans Saints gave up a ton to select Ohio State standout Chris Olave in the 2022 NFL Draft. With a lot invested in him, there's certainly some extra pressure on the wide receiver to look good right out of the gate.

Well, it's sounds like Olave is meeting expectations already after he lit it up in practice on Wednesday.

Multiple beat reporters said Olave had the "play of the day" when he made a contested sideline catch despite plenty of contact on the play. The grab was even more impressive considering the two defenders on the play -- J.T. Gray and Alontae Taylor -- were shaken up after, so this clearly was a hard-fought snag that Olave came down with.

That wasn't the only notable moment from Wednesday's practice for the rookie. He added to his early highlight reel with a catch off of a tipped pass intended for someone else, which ESPN's Mike Triplett likened to the "Immaculate Reception".

News of Olave's playmaking should have Saints fans giddy. It's clear the wideout, who was praised as the most NFL-ready among his draft class, could hit the ground running in his first year.
