Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season includes a showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs are projected to be a Super Bowl threat once again despite losing Tyreek Hill in the offseason. Still, a team with Patrick Mahomes under center has the chance to beat any team put in front of them.

The Cardinals are hoping to bounce back from their disappointing end to the 2021 campaign. While Arizona has several of its own talented playmakers, they'll be without No. 1 wideout DeAndre Hopkins, who's serving a six-game suspension.

Chiefs vs Cardinals Odds & Spread

Moneyline: KC: (-260) | ARI: (+215)
Spread: KC: -6.5 (-106) | ARI: +6.5 (-114)
Total: 53.5 — Over: (-112) | Under: (-108)

Updated (Sunday, Sept. 11, 11:15 a.m. EST): Updated odds were provided from FanDuel Sportsbook. The point spread was increased for the Chiefs, who are now favored by 6.5 points. This is seen in the moneyline odds, as well.

The Chiefs enter this contest as the favorite on the moneyline and the spread. This 4:25 p.m. ET clash also features a total of 53.5, which is high compared to this week's NFL projected totals.

Chiefs vs Cardinals Prediction & Pick

While the departure of Hill hurts, Mahomes has more than enough weapons. Travis Kelce, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are a few of the names at his disposal, being enough to keep the Chiefs remaining as offensive juggernauts. Even though the Cardinals have their own fair share of playmakers, it's going to be tough to match Kansas City without Hopkins.

Whichever team's defense makes the first mistake could dictate how the game unfolds. Kansas City's defensive unit was the definition of "Jekyll & Hyde" in 2021, but I expect it to be more consistent this year after the offseason improvements. With the Cardinals' D also being weaker following Chandler Jones' departure, I see the Chiefs winning this potential shootout.

Final Score Prediction: Chiefs: 31 | Cardinals: 27

Chiefs vs Cardinals Betting Trends

- Kansas City is 4-1 straight up in its last five games against Arizona.
- Arizona is 0-5 against the spread (ATS) in its last five home games.
- The total has hit the over in seven of Kansas City's last eight games.
- The total has hit the under in six of Arizona's last nine games against Kansas City.

Chiefs vs Cardinals Best Bet

There's a ton of offensive potential here, even with Hopkins' absence. I think defense will take a backseat here as Mahomes and Kyler Murray put on a Week 1 showing to remember. Regardless of who you think will win, I suggest backing the over.

Bet: Over 53.5 Points (-105)
