Chiefs Rule Out Key Special Teamer For Week 5

The Kansas City Chiefs got back in the win column after a convincing 41-31 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. It was a complete team effort, including backup kicker Matthew Wright going a perfect 100% on five extra point attempts and two field goals.

Wright filled in for starting kicker Harrison Butker, who continues to deal with a ankle issue suffered in Week 1.

Unfortunately, Kansas City will still have to rely on their backup for at least one more contest.

The Chiefs officially ruled out Butlker for their Week 5 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by team insider Adam Teicher. This marks his fourth consecutive week sidelined with the ailment.

Showing the highest over/under point total on Week 5's slate (51.5), per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, this Monday Night Football clash between Kansas City and the Las Vegas Raiders poses to be a high-scoring affair. Wright could be at the center of the action once again, and will want to keep his momentum moving forward.

The loss of Butker still stings, no matter which way you look at it. This is a career 90.2% field goal kicker who touts a career-long of 58 yards.

The Jacksonville Jaguars ultimately moved on from Wright after notching subpar 87.5% and 86.7% marks on his field goals and extra points, respectively, during the 2021 campaign.
