Central Michigan vs Oklahoma State Week 1 Game Info

2022 NCAA College Football Game
Central Michigan Chippewas (0-0) vs. No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys (0-0)
Date: Thursday, September 1, 2022
Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Boone Pickens Stadium — Stillwater, OK
Coverage: FS1

Week 1 of the 2022 NCAA college football season includes a showdown between the Central Michigan Chippewas and No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Central Michigan is still riding high following a 9-4 season that resulted in a Sun Bowl victory, but runs into a hungry Cowboys team here.

Oklahoma State has their eyes set on winning its first Big 12 title since 2011. Head coach Mike Gundy guided the Cowboys to the conference championship game in 2021, but they fell to the Baylor Bears by a score of 21-16. Getting the season started off right with a decisive win would go a long way here.

Oklahoma State enters this contest as the clear favorite on the moneyline and the spread. This 7 p.m. ET clash also features a total of 59.5, which is above average compared to this week's college football projected totals.

Central Michigan vs Oklahoma State Prediction & Pick

These teams have met head-to-head only twice all-time, with the away team coming out on top in both contests. Don't get it twisted, though. This is an opportunity to for the Cowboys to make an early statement in the race for a Big 12 title. Oklahoma State has the talent to cruise to a big victory here.

Central Michigan was able to put together its best season in years in 2021, but playing in the MAC doesn't compare to a Power Five conference. Look for quarterback Spencer Sanders to pick apart the Chippewas' defense and keep the Cowboys' momentum from last year going early on.

Final Score Prediction: Central Michigan: 14 | Oklahoma State: 42

The Cowboys should roll here, but keep an eye on the total. It has hit the under in four of Central Michigan's last five games against a Big 12 opponent. Oklahoma State also allowed only 18.2 points per game in 2021 (No. 10 in NCAA) and bring back a majority of its starters on that side of the ball.

If the Chippewas can't get into the end zone more than twice, Oklahoma State would have to ball out with a huge offensive performance for this over to hit. It's better to err on the side of caution here and expect the offenses to take some time to gel in the first game. Back the under with confidence.

Bet: Under 59.5 Points (-110)
