Celtics vs Warriors Game 2 Info

2021-22 NBA Playoffs — NBA Finals Game 2 (BOS Leads 1-0)
Boston Celtics (51-31, 23-18 Away) vs. Golden State Warriors (53-29, 31-10 Home)
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2022
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Venue: Chase Center — San Francisco, CA
Coverage: ABC

Everything was going well for the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 as they led by double digits entering the fourth quarter. Their defense then crumbled in the final frame, allowing the Boston Celtics to rally with a 40-point fourth-quarter performance to steal the 1-0 series lead.

It should be interesting to see which versions of both teams we get in Game 2. Had the Warriors played the final 12 minutes the same way they did the first 36, they'd be the ones up, so that's the type of energy they need to bring. Meanwhile, it's paramount for the Celtics to get off to a stronger start because they're better than that and can't rely on comebacks to win every game.

Celtics vs Warriors Odds & Spread

All NBA betting lines, odds and prop bets are available on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Moneyline: BOS: (+144) | GSW: (-172)
Spread: BOS: +4 (-110) | GSW: -4 (-110)
Total: 215 — Over: (-108) | Under: (-112)
Odds to Win NBA Finals: BOS: (-170) | GSW: (+140)

It's kind of shocking to see the Warriors listed as 4-point favorites. They were favored by 3.5 points in Game 1 but obviously didn't cover the spread. They have even improved on their moneyline odds from Game 1 to now -172 as the Celtics slightly got worse to +144.

The total was set at 211.5 for Thursday's matchup but has risen to 215 for Game 2 after the two teams combined for 228 points. It seems like a fair total because both the Celtics and Warriors can still produce high-scoring games despite how strong the opposition's defense might be.

NBA Finals MVP Odds 2022

All NBA Finals MVP odds are available on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Jayson Tatum (+130)
Stephen Curry (+145)
Jaylen Brown (+1000)
Al Horford (+1400)
Marcus Smart (+1800)
Draymond Green (+5000)
Klay Thompson (+6000)
Andrew Wiggins (+6000)
Jordan Poole (+13000)
Kevon Looney (+49000)
Robert Williams (+49000)

After Game 1, Jayson Tatum is now the +130 favorite to win Finals MVP, along with the Celtics being -170 to win the NBA Championship. However, the fact that Tatum only had 12 points on 3-of-17 certainly hurts his chances of walking away with some hardware.

As a bit of a dark horse, I'm taking Al Horford at +1400 odds after his Game 1 performance. He finished Thursday night with a team-high 26 points with a 97.6% true shooting percentage. Furthermore, the veteran big man even made six three-pointers along with six rebounds and three assists. Nobody expected to 36-year-old to have this type of resurgence and he should remain in the Finals MVP conversation if he can replicate his Game 1 outing.

Celtics vs Warriors Prediction & Pick

All NBA win probability predictions and picks are according to ESPN's Basketball Power Index (BPI).
Prediction: Boston Celtics win (57.9%)

ESPN is going with the Celtics as the winner in Game 2. The site did pick them to win Game 1 as well, but I think the Warriors will learn from Thursday's mistakes. They got too comfortable entering the fourth quarter and that's a mistake a team with their experience shouldn't make again.

At the end of the day, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have more than enough experience to lead their team to a victory in Game 2. This is the trio's sixth NBA Finals together and I trust them to fix what was wrong in the opening game of the series. The Celtics don't have that experience quite yet and it's going to show the longer this series goes.

Final Score Prediction: Warriors: 116 | Celtics: 110

Celtics vs Warriors Betting Trends

- Boston is 7-3 straight up in its last 10 games against Golden State.
- Golden State is 0-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last six games against Boston.
- The total has hit the over in each of Boston's last seven games against Western Conference opponents.
- The total has hit the under in 11 of Golden State's last 14 games against Boston.

The betting trends show that the Celtics have actually had the Warriors' number in recent history. Boston's a perfect 5-0 in its last five trips to California and has also done a remarkable job at covering the spread.

The fact that the Celtics and Warriors hit the over in Game 1 seems to be an outlier considering the fact that they've finished with the under in 78.6% of their last 14 matchups. Even with that being the case, any game involving the likes of Curry, Thompson, Tatum and Jaylen Brown has a good chance of finishing with the over.

A lot of eyes are on the aforementioned star players, but an interesting individual to watch is none other than Andrew Wiggins. Even though his team lost the opening matchup, the Toronto, Ontario native still had 20 points while shooting 53.3% from the field.

Wiggins' point total for Game 2 is listed at 16.5 and that's something he should have no issues hitting. He's averaging 16.9 PPG in his last 12 games and has finished with the over eight times over that span — including in three of his last four outings. With most of the attention on others, look for Wiggins to have a solid performance.

Bet Andrew Wiggins Points: Over 16.5 (-116)
