The 2022-23 NBA Playoffs continue on Wednesday with Game 5 of the first-round series between the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

  • Time: 7:00 PM ET
  • Venue: Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse -- Cleveland, Ohio

The Knicks did their job at home, winning both games at Madison Square Garden. They now head back to Cleveland for Game 5 with a commanding 3-1 series lead. New York won both Games 3 and 4 despite Julius Randle -- the team's second-best player -- putting up two lackluster games. Now Cleveland must win three in a row to keep its season alive.

The odds have favored the home team in every game of this series and that trend continues here for Game 5. The game's over/under comes in with by far the lowest total on the slate at 202.5.

Cavaliers vs. Knicks Betting Trends

  • The Cavaliers went 41-36-5 ATS last season.
  • The Knicks' ATS record as underdogs of 5.5 points or greater was 11-14 last year.
  • Last season, 37 Cavaliers games went over the point total.
  • In 82 Knicks games last season, 39 of them went over the total.

Cavaliers vs. Knicks Prediction & Pick

The Knicks are coming off back-to-back wins at home after splitting the first two games in Cleveland, proving they can win in both scenarios. Yes, New York fed off its home crowd in Games 3 and 4, but the same level of home-court advantage simply doesn't exist in Cleveland.

The Knicks have proved they can handle hostile environments all season by going 25-18 on the road -- tied for the fourth-best away record in the Eastern Conference. Extra rest by sitting the fourth quarter on Sunday, plus the days off in between games, should help Julius Randle get back on track as he continues to nurse an injured ankle.

New York's winning formula has been simple through four games: stifle Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland as much as possible with Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein protecting the rim and dominating the boards. On offense, the Knicks have flourished by attacking the rim and crashing the offensive glass.

Cleveland's back is up against the wall now. While I don't expect this one to be a blowout, the more-experienced and better-coached Knicks have their formula and know how to execute it. They have also been a fantastic team all year as the underdog, coming in with an outright win record of 22-21 -- the second-best mark in the league. Back New York to close things out on the road here.

Final Score Prediction: Knicks: 104 | Cavaliers: 98

Cavaliers vs. Knicks Best Bet

New York has come out of the gate hot all season, ranking 10th in first-quarter points at 29.4 per game. Cleveland, on the other hand, is all the way down at No. 24 at 28.0 points per game. The Knicks are getting 1.5 points on the spread in the first quarter for Game 5, creating some real potential value there. They've already covered that spread three times in four games so far this series, so bank on those trends continuing.

Bet: Knicks 1st Quarter Spread +1.5 (+100)
