  • Cincinnati is 1-5 SU in its last six games against the NL Central.

Cardinals vs Reds Prediction & Pick

After missing the first month of the season due to a groin injury, Adam Wainwright has struggled to find his footing for St. Louis. The 41-year-old veteran has pitched to a 5.74 ERA over his first 15 2/3 innings of work, allowing 11.5 hits per nine innings along the way.

Meanwhile, the Reds' Graham Ashcraft hasn't been much better. The former 2019 sixth-rounder is 2-2 with a 4.84 ERA through nine starts, having not been credited with a victory in each of his six appearances. He's also struggled to keep the ball in the park lately, giving up 3 homers and 19 runs over his last 12 1/3 innings of work.

In a game where neither starting pitcher has performed well recently, I'm going with the Cardinals picking up the victory. The Reds have struggled against the NL Central lately and I don't see that changing, seeing as how they've allowed an average of 10.7 runs in Ashcraft's last three starts.

It was only a few days ago that the Cardinals were beating up on the Dodgers, who are much better than the Reds. Wanting revenge for last night's defeat, St. Louis should get back on track tonight.

Final Score Prediction: Cardinals: 7 | Reds: 5

Cardinals vs Reds Best Bet

I recommend backing St. Louis to score more than 5.5 runs (-110) as the best bet tonight. Again, the Reds allow a lot of runs whenever Ashcraft starts, surrendering 11+ runs in two of his previous three showings. Furthermore, Cincinnati has allowed more than 5.5 runs in three of its past four home games.

Scoring an average of 7.8 runs in their last 11 games, the Cardinals are in a good spot to continue that offense in Cincy tonight.

Bet: Cardinals to Score Over 5.5 Runs (-110)
