Buccaneers Get Unfortunate Leonard Fournette Injury Update During Week 10 Game

Week 10 of the NFL season has not been kind to running back Leonard Fournette. The Tampa Bay Buccaneer was almost forced to skip the overseas trip to Munich due to a passport issue and has now left the field in noticeable pain against the Seattle Seahawks. A concerning hip injury is to blame.

Leonard Fournette Injury Update

Fournette left in the third quarter after rushing for 57 yards and 1 touchdown on 12 carries. It was the fifth game this year in which Fournette found the end zone, but the first game since Week 6 that he saw double-digit carries. He also logged 1 yard on one catch and threw an interception on a trick play.

This will be a storyline to keep an eye on over the next week. Hip injuries can be tough to come back from given how often running backs are smacked around during rush attempts and pass protection snaps. Fournette has also yet to play a full NFL season and missed 3 games for Tampa Bay in 2021.

It's worth pointing out rookie Rachaad White got the start over Fournette in Week 10 and logged 4 more carries before the veteran went down. Overall, White rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries. He would be the go-to option for head coach Todd Bowles if Fournette needs to miss extended action.

The good news is that Fournette's efforts helped the Buccaneers sneak past the Seahawks by a final score of 21-15. They currently sit atop the NFC South with a 5-5 record and the road to the playoffs has become clear. Tampa Bay has odds set at +1700 to win Super Bowl 57, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
