Buccaneers Firing Coach Immediately After Season Ends

After limping into the NFL playoffs with an 8-9 record, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were no match for the 12-win Dallas Cowboys during Wild Card Weekend. A season marred by injuries, Tampa Bay's offense was not up to the standard of play with the greatest quarterback of all time under center.

And now, reports suggest the Buccaneers will address the issue by firing an important member of the coaching staff immediately as the season ends.

According to Buccaneers insider The Pewter Report, Tampa Bay will fire offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. The former NFL quarterback has worked as Tampa Bay's offensive coordinator since 2019, but the offense reached new lows in 2022.

Just a year after finishing second in the NFL in points scored and yards gained, Tampa Bay finished 25th at just 18.4 points per game and 15th in yards per game.

This report suggests the firing could have come sooner. Apparently, the Buccaneers had plans to fire Leftwich after their Week 11 bye, but head coach Todd Bowles "decided to keep him" at that time. It's still unclear if Leftwich will be the lone scapegoat on Tampa Bay's coaching staff, as we await official news on his termination.
