Buccaneers and Chiefs Odds to Go 17-0 During 2021 NFL Season on FanDuel Sportsbook

Updated:

Heading into the summer of NFL training camps and preseason football, there's two clear-cut early favorites to win the Super Bowl in 2021. Naturally, those early favorites are the returning participants from the 2020 Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs.

Tampa Bay returns nearly every starter from last year's championship team while the Chiefs bolstered their offensive line (the one area of weakness). Kansas City remains the early Super Bowl favorite despite last year's loss at +500 odds with the Buccaneers close on their heels at +650, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Considering these teams are likely the two best and most complete rosters across the league, it's always fun to imagine if either has a shot at perfection. FanDuel Sportsbook opened up odds for each team to go undefeated and 17-0 next year.

Of the two, the Chiefs get another slight edge with these odds. Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Chiefs +2700 odds to go undefeated while the Buccaneers hold +5000 odds. Not surprising, the expectation is that neither club will pull off this miraculous feat. Both Kansas City (-5000) and Tampa Bay (-20000) are heavily favored to not go undefeated next season.

Part of the reasoning behind this may be the addition of a 17th game on every NFL team's schedule. Not to mention how difficult going undefeated actually is. Only four teams in league history have ever finished with a perfect regular season record, with only two doing it in the Super Bowl era.

Regardless, it's fun to imagine Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes leading their teams to respective perfection. And, these two teams won't square off in the regular season meaning neither can foil the other's shot at perfection.
