Brewers Get Update on Josh Hader's Return Timeline

Updated:

As the Milwaukee Brewers continue their recent struggles, closing pitcher Josh Hader hasn't been available over the last few days. It isn't for a bad reason, though. The 28-year-old southpaw and his wife, Maria, recently welcomed their first child into the world, resulting in paternity leave for Hader.

The good news for Brewers fans is that the closer has updated the club on when he'll be ready to return to the mound. After taking the rest of the weekend off, Hader will be back in Milwaukee's bullpen for their home matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

Brewers News

Hader has been special to watch this season, so it isn't shocking that fans are anticipating his return. The Brewers have done well in his absence, though, going 2-1 over the last three games, which includes a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday where Brad Boxberger recorded the save.

Even if Boxberger can occasionally close out a game, there's no replicating Hader's magic. The Millersville, MD native owns a 0.92 ERA in 21 appearances, while his 19 saves rank second-best in the Majors. He's recorded saves in 19 of 20 opportunities.

Brewers World Series Odds

The Brewers will need a rejuvenated Hader to help them crawl out of their hole if a championship is the goal this year. FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Milwaukee available at +1500 (T-No. 7) to win the 2022 World Series.
