Brewers Get Encouraging News on Latest Aaron Ashby Injury Update

Updated:

The last two weeks have been torture for Milwaukee Brewers fans as the club has gone 3-12 over the last 15 games. It's become tougher for the Brewers to crawl out of their slump after starting pitcher Aaron Ashby exited with a trainer during Thursday's contest against the New York Mets with a forearm injury.

The encouraging news for the Brewers faithful is that it doesn't appear to be a serious issue. Manager Craig Counsell told reporters after the game that Ashby's forearm injury has to do with fatigue more than anything, meaning some rest is all he needs to get back to form.

Ashby even added that he didn't think he would miss a start and that he could probably hit his pitch count if given the chance. However, Counsell said that more tests on Friday would give the team a better idea as to how much time the 24-year-old could miss.

The 2022 MLB season has been a rollercoaster for Ashby. Although his 4.25 ERA is a slight improvement over last year (4.55 ERA), he's 1-5 in 14 games (eight starts) so far. The Brewers are only averaging 3.12 runs in his eight starts, which is below their 2022 season average (4.32, No. 16).

Nevertheless, fans should feel optimistic that Ashby looks to be dealing with a day-to-day injury. Assuming Friday's test comes back clear, the Kansas City, MO native should be good to start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, June 21.
