Brewers-Andrew Benintendi Trade Rumors Heating Up

Updated:

The 2022 MLB Trade Deadline is a little more than a month away, and the hot stove is officially beginning to heat up. At this point, most of what we've heard has been mere speculation about the best and most logical fits.

But now, those rumors are beginning to be backed up by official reports. The Milwaukee Brewers are one team at the center of an early Trade Deadline report as they've been officially linked to Gold Glove outfielder Andrew Benintendi.

MLB Network reporter Jon Morosi indicated he's "already hearing reports" about different teams showing interest in the Kansas City Royals talented outfielder. He lists the Brewers among those teams.

Brewers Rumors

Benintendi is going to get a lot of attention in the coming weeks. The former Boston Red Sox is slashing .295/.358/.382 with 11 doubles and 23 RBIs this season and is one of the best left-handed bats available. His Royals are already 13.5 games back in the weak AL Central division.

Milwaukee ranks 10th in team batting average from the left-side this season, but notably behind their only competition in the NL Central in the St. Louis Cardinals. This latest rumor also comes on the heels of losing outfield depth after DFA'ing Lorenzo Cain.

Morosi calls Benintendi to Milwaukee a "tremendous fit," while naming two potential threats to this acquisition in the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.

This is one of the first official rumors headlining the MLB trade season, and fans should expect the rumors to heat up heading into July.
