Bill Belichick Reveals Why He Missed Robert Kraft's Wedding

Updated:

New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft had a surprise wedding on Friday night, but one prominent member of the team was nowhere to be found.

Head coach Bill Belichick was not in attendance for Kraft's wedding, although he had a valid reason for skipping the festivities.

Apparently Belichick spoke to Kraft about the wedding beforehand, but decided not to attend in order to focus on Sunday's upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. Kraft can't be too upset with his head coach, who guided the Patriots to a lopsided 38-15 road road win over the Browns with Kraft in attendance.

Belichick is known for his rigid discipline and no-nonsense approach, so it was not surprising to hear that he skipped the ceremony for work reasons. Perhaps he would have gone if it had been a bye week, but Belichick likely understand how bad the optics would be if he went and New England lost.

Just ask Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady, who's taking some heat for failing to beat the lowly Pittsburgh Steelers two days after attending Kraft's wedding. Belichick would've opened himself up to similar criticism from the intense Boston media had the Patriots played poorly on Sunday.

The Patriots have now won back-to-back games and will look to keep rolling against the Chicago Bears at home on Monday Night Football in Week 7. New England is favored by 7.5 points over Chicago on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
