Fantasy Football Draft Order

Your fantasy football draft is what sets the stage for your entire season, and having a great draft can set you up for success just as much as having a poor draft can put you on the fast track to failure.

In a given year, where you pick could be a part of determining how your draft pans out and what strategy you use in your draft. Some players like to go for that first pick, while others like the consistency of being in the middle of the round and there are even those that covet those back-to-back picks at the back end of the rounds.

There are a ton of ways you can determine the order your your fantasy football draft, so let's take a look at the best ones.

How to Decide Fantasy Football Draft Order

11. Previous Year's Record

This takes the model of the actual NFL, with the worst team from last season getting the first pick and the league champion receiving the last pick.

10. Pick From a Hat

This one is pretty self explanatory and resembles the NBA Draft lottery a bit, except everyone has an equal chance.

9. Betting On a Sporting Event

You can take an event with a lot of participants or potential winners, like a PGA Tour tournament, one of the triple crown horse races or a NASCAR race. Even March Madness if you want to plan that far ahead. Determine the order from there.

8. Betting On Something Else

Why confine yourselves to betting on something normal like a sporting event? What about betting on who will score first in your kid's soccer game? Or maybe betting on who will win this season of The Bachelorette? Anything you can think of betting on is fair game.

7. Beer Pong Game

Write a name on the bottom of each cup, six cups on each side. Whenever a cup gets made, the person is rewarded the pick in that order, starting with either first or last.

6. Cornhole Tournament

Much like the rest of the competition based tournaments on this list, the winner picks their spot and corresponding places after pick theirs.

5. Shot Roullete

Place 12 Shot glasses on the table, 11 of them filled with water, one filled with a clear alcohol. Whoever gets the alcohol gets the first or last pick (your choice) and go on from there with the remaining players.

4. Mini Golf Tournament

Not everyone in your league may be a real golfer, but everyone plays and loves mini golf. If they don't you probably don't want them in your league anyways. Lowest score picks their draft spot.

3. Madden Tournament

Every football fan has probably played at least one game of Madden. Everyone picks a team, put together a March Madness type bracket based on skill level and play until you have a winner.

2. Take the Wonderlic Test

This plays off the common last-placed punishment of having to take the SAT's, but the Wonderlic is taken by all the NFL draftees, and is available online, or at least ones from past years are. The highest score picks their spot, and so on.

1. NFL Combine Events

It might be fantasy football, but if you want to act like you're trying out for the NFL, you can put together a list of NFL combine events like the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and bench press. the best performer gets to pick their spot and so on.
