Bears Give Major Hint to Justin Fields' Week 13 Status

Chicago Bears starting quarterback Justin Fields missed the team's Week 12 game after suffering an injury to his non-throwing shoulder in Week 11. While the injury was not believed to be serious, he did miss one game and it looks like he might be out for even longer.

The Bears signed QB Tim Boyle off the Lions' practice squad, potentially signalling Fields' status for Week 13. With two quarterbacks now being injured on the roster, Chicago signed Boyle as a precaution if Fields can't go, which it now appears is a real possibility.

Fields is enjoying a breakout season in his sophomore campaign. A player that certainly received his fair share of criticism in his rookie season, he looks like he's on his way to silencing those critics.

Fields has 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in his 11 starts last year, compared to 7 and 10 in those same stats in 10 starts last season. He has also raised his passer rating form 73.2 last season to 86.2 this season.

Fields is clearly a player that makes this offense go. The Bears defense is a shell of what it was to start the season, so if they can't score points, they have almost no chance to win games. Chicago only scored 10 points on the New York Jets last week without Fields.

Whether Fields can play or not in Week 13, the Bears have a matchup against the Green Bay Packers, where Chicago is a 4.5-point home underdog, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
