Bears Fans Will Love Todd McShay's First 2023 NFL Mock Draft

Updated:

The Chicago Bears shocked a lot of analysts at the 2022 NFL Draft when they passed on taking a wide receiver twice before landing Velus Jones Jr. in the third round. Quarterback Justin Fields still lacks offensive weapons, but Todd McShay thinks the team will finally address that need in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Chicago Bears Mock Draft

McShay has the Bears using the No. 7 overall pick to take wide receiver Jordan Addison. It makes sense considering the team has no reliable threat to pair with starter Darnell Mooney in 2022.

Addison has entered the transfer portal, so it is yet to be determined where he will be suiting up in the fall. The 20-year-old did make himself a household name in 2021 by racking up 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns on 100 receptions, though. He also averaged 15.9 yards per catch across 14 games.

Chicago could use a player that builds his game around physicality like Addison does. The former Pittsburgh Panther isn't afraid to power through defenders in order to get open down the field. Keep in mind the Bears finished with the eighth-fewest receiving yards in the NFL in 2021 (3,635).

There's a possibility that Addison enters the 2023 NFL Draft as the top pass-catcher available. Of course, Chicago would have to have a high first-round pick in order to land him. That would mean not making the playoffs for the second season in a row or making a blockbuster deal to move up.

For now, the Bears have odds set at +10000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
