Teams across the NFL are preparing to ramp up for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. The Atlanta Falcons were one of the first squads to take the field as the preseason nears.

Here's everything Falcons fans need to know about training camp this year.

When Does Atlanta Falcons Training Camp Start?

Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies are often required to report a few days before veterans. The Falcons rookies already began reporting to camp on Tuesday, July 19.

Then, on Tuesday, July 26, Atlanta's veterans are mandated to report for training camp. This gives just two weeks to prepare for the team's first preseason game on Aug. 12.

The Falcons will host training camp on their practice facility in Flowery Branch, Atlanta.

Falcons Training Camp Dates 2022

Falcons rookies reported for training camp on July 19, followed by vets on July 26. Atlanta will then host practices to get ready for its first preseason game on Aug. 12.

The Falcons' first preseason game is on the road against the Detroit Lions. Atlanta also plays again on Aug. 22 (@ New York Jets) and Aug. 27 (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars).

The Falcons will suit up on Sunday, Sept. 11 versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the 2022 campaign.

Falcons linebacker Deion Jones' name was floating around trade rumors earlier this offseason, but that came to a stop after the veteran underwent shoulder surgery a few months ago.

For fans hoping to see Jones at training camp, that likely won't be the case. The Falcons announced on Thursday that the 27-year-old has been put on the PUP list, sidelining him for the foreseeable future as he continues to recover.

The silver lining to the situation is that, unlike in the regular season, the Falcons can activate Jones from the PUP list at any time during training camp. Perhaps a miraculous recovery will see him take to the field sooner than expected, but fans shouldn't hold their breath.
