Arthur Smith Shares Big Update on Cordarrelle Patterson Injury

Updated:

The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the biggest surprises in football this year, going 3-4 to start the season. They've managed to stay competitive despite the loss of Cordarrelle Patterson, who went down in Week 4 with a knee injury.

Fortunately for the Falcons, it sounds like their star running back is nearing a return.

Cordarrelle Patterson Injury Update

According to Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith, Patterson appears "pretty close" to coming back. While Patterson is currently on IR and isn't eligible to return until Week 9, he has been working out and posting videos of his training sessions to social media.

This is great news for the Falcons, as Patterson is one of their top offensive playmakers. The hybrid back was off to a terrific start before his injury, racking up 368 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns in his first four games.

Assuming Patterson is able to return next week, he'll be back in time for Atlanta's big home game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Falcons are currently 3-point underdogs against the Chargers on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for that game, but Patterson could give Atlanta a major boost if he picks up where he left off.
