Andy Reid Gives Update on Kadarius Toney's Week 9 Status

Updated:

Last week, the New York Giants traded former first-round pick Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 3rd- and 6th-round pick. Toney's short time with the Giants showed potential, but was filled with injuries, and he never quite seemed to fit in under new head coach Brian Daboll.

Toney hasn't played since Week 2 because of a hamstring injury, an issue that he alluded to being healed long ago directly following the trade in a now-deleted Tweet.

Now with the Chiefs, Toney seems to be potentially on track to play in Week 9, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Toney, when healthy could become a lethal weapon in the Chiefs' offense. Possessing insane speed and the ability to dodge seemingly limitless tackles in the open field, pairing him with Patrick Mahomes could be a lot of fun. Health still remains a concern for Toney as his injuries go further back than just this one.

Even if Toney doesn't play in Week 9, it sounds like it won't be too long before he's back on the field. Kansas City is a 12.5-point home favorite against the Tennessee Titans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
