Andre Carter II Scouting Report

Andre Carter II was terrific for Army in 2021, racking up 14.5 sacks, 17 tackles for a loss and 4 forced fumbles over 12 games. Unfortunately, he wasn't nearly as productive in 2022. The senior linebacker ended his final campaign as a Black Knight, tallying just 3.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss without a forced fumble.

Carter's frame (over 6-foot-6, 256 pounds) is something that scouts love about him. Despite his massive size, he's still quick on his feet and can create havoc on the inside. He has both a non-stop motor and good patience, helping him often be in the right place at the right time to make plays.

Unfortunately, Carter's weaker lower-body strength does cause him to make mistakes now and then against stronger blockers. His status as a military member means that he must be granted permission from the Department of Defense to play in the NFL, which might scare off some interested teams.

Andre Carter II NFL Draft Prediction

Although he didn't live up to his potential last fall, Andre Carter II is talented enough to bounce back at the next level. Fixing his lower-body strength issue won't be a problem with the right training and if he's successful in that regard, he could be a disruptive force in the NFL for years to come.

The Jacksonville Jaguars would be a good fit for Carter. After all, the Jaguars' pass rush could use a boost after being tied for the seventh-fewest sacks in the NFL last year. Thanks to its considerable draft capital, Jacksonville can afford the risk that comes with drafting the Army product.

Doug Pederson is a fantastic head coach and his coaching staff can likely get the most out of Carter's upside. With a young team that's hungry to prove something, the Missouri City, TX native will fit right in.

Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars (Round 3, 88th overall)
