Albert Pujols Makes Switch to Surprising New Agent Post Retirement

Updated:

Albert Pujols called it a career at the end of the 2022 season, and what a career it was. The future first-ball Hall of Famer ended his career with over 700 home runs and over 3,300 hits. He finished with his best season at the plate since at least 2019, and arguably since 2017, in his final campaign.

Now Pujols moves on to the next chapter of his life, his post-playing career, and he's doing so without his longtime agent, Dan Lozano. Pujols has decided to switch his representation to Jay Z's Roc Nation, whose baseball division is run by former Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen.

This is a huge get for Roc Nation Sports, as Pujols is expected to still have a ton of marketing potential and appeal following his playing career, as well as much more time and energy to focus on other business or media-related ventures.

As one of the greatest players to ever put on a baseball uniform, Pujols could remain in the public eye for as long as he chooses, but his name will have permanent recognition and credibility, regardless of how public he elects to be after baseball.

It will be interesting to see exactly what Pujols gets into now that he's done playing baseball, but with Roc Nation now representing him, it's safe to say we will still be seeing him around.
