AL Rookie of the Year Odds: Julio Rodriguez Holding Off Adley Rutschman Into Late August on FanDuel Sportsbook

Updated:

Seattle Mariners centerfielder Julio Rodriguez (-350) continues to be the American League Rookie of the Year favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook, but Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman (+280) has moved up sharply. Rodríguez is effortlessly holding onto his lead in the AL ROY poll, and he recently received 29 of the 31 first place votes by the MLB experts.

The 21-year-old Rodriguez sports a steady .266 batting average with 19 HRs, 62 RBI and 61 runs scored. The Mariners lead the AL Wild Card chase, and Rodriguez also has 21 stolen bases to help the Mariners in their pursuit of a playoff appearance for the first time since 2001.

Rutschman has stabilized the Orioles' catcher position and helped lead a remarkable turnaround this season to 62-57 and just 1.5 games behind Tampa Bay for a Wild Card berth. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft is batting .255 with 8 HRs and has drawn 40 walks in 70 games. He was hitting just .175 with zero home runs through his first 20 games after getting called up to the majors in late May.
