4 Greatest Wide Receivers in Saints History

The New Orleans Saints have been one of the most consistently competitive teams in the league since 2006. Even though that certainly wasn't always the case beforehand, this team has always managed to field some talented players across many different positions.

And wide receiver is certainly no exception. With that in mind, let's take a look at the three best wideouts in Saints history.

4. Michael Thomas (2016-Present)

Make no mistake, if he can stay healthy Michael Thomas will be atop this list in short order. He's already fourth in franchise history in receptions (470), receiving yards (5,512) and he's third in targets (602). And yet, he has only played four seasons at the NFL level. In fact, since targets began to be tracked in 1992, Thomas is the only WR in NFL history who has caught at least 78.0 percent of his targets while seeing at least 600. For reference, Wes Welker is the only other played to have even caught 70.0 of at least 600 targets during that span.

3. Joe Horn (2000-06)

Joe Horn will forever be remembered for his iconic cellphone TD celebration, but he made his mark for more than just that. He's third all-time on the Saints in receptions (523), receiving yards (7,622) and touchdowns (50). He made four Pro Bowls during his seven-year tenure in New Orleans.

2. Eric Martin (1985-93)

Eric Martin played nine seasons for the Saints, so he's certainly made his mark on the Saints' record books. He's second in receptions (532) and receiving yards (7,854) and he's fourth in TDs with 48. He only made one Pro Bowl appearance (1988), but it's hard to ignore all that he's done for the team throughout his career.

1. Marques Colston (2006-15)

This one might come as a bit of a surprise, but Marques Colston is far ahead of most of his peers – essentially across the board. He's the franchise's all-time leader in targets (1,099), receptions (711), yards (9,759) and touchdowns (72). Though he was never named to a Pro Bowl or a first-team All-Pro selection, Colston had six 1,000-yard seasons in New Orleans, and won a Super Bowl with the team.
