3 Teams That Clayton Kershaw Has Dominated the Most

Updated:

Arguably the greatest pitcher in Los Angeles Dodgers history, Clayton Kershaw has a stellar 169-74 record with a 2.44 ERA over his career. He has been dominant for a long time, now heading into his 13th year in the MLB.

The ace does have a few teams that he really excelled against though, even by his lofty standards. Here are the three teams he's dominated the most over his career.

3. San Diego Padres (21-6, 1.98 ERA)

This one should come as no surprise, as the Dodgers have been beating up on the San Diego Padres for the better part of the last decade. Kershaw has been a big part of that. The lefty has a 1.98 ERA and a .778 win percentage against the Padres in 39 career starts. He also struck out 9.5 batters per nine innings with a WHIP of 0.982. Kershaw was particularly good in Petco Park, with a 1.68 ERA and a .818 win percentage on the road against the Padres.

2. Atlanta Braves (5-0, 1.78 ERA)

Kershaw's favorite place to pitch might be Atlanta. He has never lost in three starts at Truist Park and Turner Field, sporting a 1.59 ERA in those games. Kershaw has actually never lost against the Atlanta Braves in general, owning a 1.78 ERA and averaging 9.8 strikeouts per nine. His split OPS relative to his normal OPS is an 87 against this opponent (further under 100 the better), and his WHIP is a .991.

1. San Francisco Giants (23-12, 1.74 ERA)

Back to the NL West, which Kershaw has been terrorizing since his rookie season, no team has hit worse against Clayton than the San Francisco Giants. The major California rival has won championships during Kershaw's tenure, but they never had much luck against the L.A. ace. In 49 games against the Giants, Kershaw had a 1.74 ERA, averages 9.2 K's per nine innings and boasts an insane 0.868 WHIP — the best mark against any opponent he's faced at least five times. He was even better in AT&T Park in San Francisco, pitching to a 1.57 ERA and winning 72.2 percent of his games.
