3 Most Likely Trade Destinations for Chase Claypool Ahead of Deadline

Updated:

The NFL trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 1. One player who's been involved in trade rumors is none other than Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool. The third-year pass-catcher has fallen out of favor in the Steel City and could use a change of scenery to re-ignite his NFL career.

Claypool has caught 28 catches for 266 receiving yards with a touchdown this season and also has a 149-1,999-12 stat line in 38 career games. Throw in his only being 24 years old and there are bound to be a few teams that believe they can turn his career around.

In the meantime, here are three of the most likely trade destinations for Claypool ahead of next week's deadline.

Chase Claypool Trade Destinations

1. Green Bay Packers

One reason why the Green Bay Packers have struggled this season is that the wide receiver room has been inconsistent. Outside of Allen Lazard, the Packers' WRs have struggled to make big players or are too injured to even take to the field. If Green Bay wants to turn things around and compete this year, Claypool is the wideout to help the team. The former Notre Dame product isn't among the top of his position, but he did average 866.5 receiving yards in his first two NFL seasons, showing that he can do some damage. Playing with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers would likely bring out the best in Claypool, especially as the Packers' No. 1 WR. A trade would certainly be a move that benefits both the team and the player.

2. New York Giants

Nobody expected the New York Giants to be buyers this season, but here they are with a 6-1 record. Nevertheless, their WR room needs a boost as it's been ravaged by injuries all year long. Claypool would help the situation, especially as he's only missed two games so far in his three-year career. He's also young enough to fit into the Giants' core and could be a mainstay in the offense for years to come. With how solid New York's offense has looked under head coach Brian Daboll, perhaps he could have a similar impact on Claypool's game. Considering how the Giants are pretty much down to Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton as far as their WRs go, Claypool is a player that they need as soon as possible.

3. Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are 4-2, but their wideouts have had very little to do with that record. Robert Woods is the only Titans WR to have found the end zone and to have more than 138 receiving yards (230). In other words, Claypool is a player that Tennessee could really use. The Titans were banking on rookie WR Treylon Burks taking up a big role this season, but he's been injured, allowing for the perfect opportunity for Claypool to step in. The team also enjoys using Woods as a run-blocker for Derrick Henry, which could open the door for Claypool to be their No. 1 pass-catching option. After the positive impact that QB Ryan Tannehill had on A.J. Brown's career, perhaps he could do the same for the Abbotsford, British Columbia native.
