3 Most Likely Miles Sanders Free Agent Destinations

The start of the NFL's new league year is under a month away and teams are already starting to figure out which free agents should be targeted. This year's running back class includes Miles Sanders, who racked up 1,347 total yards and 11 touchdowns on 279 touches across 17 games played in 2022.

Sanders finally put it all together in what was his first Pro Bowl season as he burst through open holes on a Philadelphia Eagles offense that just reached the Super Bowl. It'll be interesting to see if he can keep that success going, so here are three of the most likely free-agent destinations for Sanders.

Miles Sanders Free Agent Destinations

1. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins saw five different running backs get carries this past season and not a single one of them is under contract in 2023. Chase Edmonds was traded away, while Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are slated to be free agents. The front office provided quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with a new weapon in wide receiver Tyreek Hill last offseason and could provide him with another in Sanders. The 25-year-old averaged 74.6 rushing yards per game and tallied a career-high 432 yards after contact this past season. Running behind a great offensive line would allow Sanders to transfer the knowledge he gained from Philly's elite offense to Miami's scheme, too.

2. Buffalo Bills

The Bills have come so close to getting over the hump and into the Super Bowl during the last few years, but their lack of a running game has proven costly. Devin Singletary is set to be a free agent and neither James Cook nor Nyheim Hines projects to be a three-down back. Adding someone that can run the ball up the middle would add a new dimension to Buffalo's offense. Defenses would be forced to defend the run, which would open up gaps for quarterback Josh Allen to exploit. While Sanders may not be a bruising ball carrier at 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds, he tallied 62 first downs and nine carries of 20+ yards in 2022. It's hard to argue against that type of production.

3. Chicago Bears

It's worth pointing out that the Dolphins and Bills are both currently over the salary cap for the 2023 NFL season. Sanders may have to decide if joining a contender is worth taking a shorter/cheaper deal. The Bears stick out as a landing spot if Sanders opts to secure his future and help a team rebuild its offense. Chicago has the most available cap space in the NFL and David Montgomery is set to be a free agent. Signing a new backfield partner for quarterback Justin Fields has to be a priority and it would be beneficial for that player to be a trustworthy dump-off option. Sanders logged 50 receptions as a rookie back in 2019 and averages 7.6 yards per catch in his career.
