3 Greatest Quarterbacks in Ravens History

3 Greatest Quarterbacks in Ravens History

Updated:

The Baltimore Ravens are still one of the NFL's newest franchises, having debuted in 1996. It didn't take them long to find success, first winning a Super Bowl in 2000, though their best years have usually been carried by an elite defense.

There have been some great players on the other side of the ball in Baltimore too, though, so let's take a look at the three greatest quarterbacks in the franchise's young history.

Best Baltimore Ravens Quarterbacks of All Time

3. Vinny Testaverde (1996-1997)

You could make arguments for a few players in this spot (Trent Dilfer for his Super Bowl ring, for example), but the Ravens' first starting QB gets the nod. The team went just 8-20-1 under Vinny Testaverde, but not through any fault of his own. The journeyman threw for 7,148 yards and 51 touchdowns with 34 interceptions as a Raven, sporting a solid passer rating of 82.8. Led by Testaverde, the Ravens offense ranked in the top-10 in the NFL in yards in both of their first two seasons.

2. Lamar Jackson (2018-Present)

Talk about a fast ascension. Lamar Jackson has been a full-time starter for just one season, but he's already impossible to leave off the list. The 2019 NFL MVP, Jackson threw for 3,127 yards, led the NFL with 36 touchdowns, and set the NFL single-season quarterback rushing record with 1,206 yards on the ground. At just 23 years old with 22 starts under his belt, it shouldn't be long before Jackson takes the top spot on this list.

1. Joe Flacco (2008-2018)

Setting the "elite" jokes aside, Joe Flacco was a true franchise quarterback for the Ravens. He started 163 regular season games over 11 seasons, amassing 38,245 passing yards with 212 touchdowns and 136 interceptions. He also led the Ravens to a 10-5 postseason record, which included a Super Bowl run and Super Bowl MVP award in 2012. Jackson is already nipping at his heels, but Flacco will forever be the first true franchise QB in Baltimore Ravens' history.
