3 Greatest Quarterbacks in Cardinals History

The Arizona Cardinals have had an up and down history, from their moves from Chicago to St. Louis, before settling in Arizona. They have had some terrific teams and even better players come through their locker room, but it seems few and far between lately.

Still, they have featured some very good passers. With that in mind, here are the three greatest quarterbacks in Cardinals franchise history.

3. Neil Lomax (1981-88)

Neil Lomax was the franchise's quarterback when the team made its move to Arizona. He put together a productive career, ranking second in franchise history with 22,771 passing yards and 136 touchdowns to 90 interceptions. He was named to two Pro Bowls, the second of which was in his best season, as he led the league with 3,387 passing yards in the team's final year in St. Louis. While Carson Palmer's peak was admittedly higher, Lomax gets the nod due to his longevity.

2. Jim Hart (1966-83)

Jim Hart's 18 seasons with the franchise deserves some recognition. He is the franchise passing leader, with 34,639 yards and 209 touchdowns. Hart was voted to four straight Pro Bowls, but the quarterback was never able to win a playoff game. Overall, he doesn't have many accolades that stand out, but he was solid over nearly two full decades.

1. Kurt Warner (2005-09)

Kurt Warner's Cardinals career was a short one, but he is the team's only quarterback to appear in a Super Bowl. Warner ranks fifth all-time in passing yards (15,843), but he put together one of the best seasons in franchise history. In 2008, Warner passed for 4,583 yards and 30 touchdowns, leading his team to a 9-7 record. That was the Super Bowl campaign, where he went on a terrific run. Despite coming up just short, he completed 72 percent of his passes for 377 yards and 3 TDs to 1 INT in the big game.
