Some collegiate football programs are known for being elite at certain positions. For the Georgia Bulldogs, that position very well could be running back. The Bulldogs have fielded some of the best college backs to ever put on pads. While it could be tough to rank them, let's take a shot at doing just that.

These are the three best running backs in Georgia's program history.

3. Todd Gurley, 2012-14

Todd Gurley is arguably the best recent star to come out of Georgia. While this past NFL season may have been a disappointing one, due to his arthritic knees, it is in part due to the work he put in as a Bulldog. He ranks fourth all-time in rushing yards (3,285), third in touchdowns (42) and he added another 615 receiving yards to his total.

2. Nick Chubb, 2014-17

The most recent star to come out of their backfield and into the NFL, Nick Chubb has been running over folks long before he went to the Cleveland Browns. Chubb ranks second in school history with 4,769 rushing yards and second all-time in total running back touchdowns, with 48. These numbers are even more impressive when considering he played the same years as Sony Michel, who posted 3,613 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns of his own. He also is No. 1 in school history in yards gained per rush in a season at a whopping 8.12 in 2015.

1. Herschel Walker, 1980-82

Okay, this one was just obvious. Herschel Walker is one of the best running backs to play on Saturdays. He is the all-time program leader for rushing yards, at 5,259. He is also first all-time in total touchdowns, finding pay dirt an incredible 52 times. He still holds the SEC record for average rushing yards per game for his collegiate career at 159.4. He lead the Bulldogs to their most-recent National Championship in 1980.
