Valspar Championship Field

Valspar Championship Picks & Predictions

Copperhead is a difficult course to gain strokes off the tee with narrow and tough-to-hold fairways. Solid shot-making is required for success on this treelined, positional golf course. Layups off the tee and significant elevation changes add to the course management requirements with a solid short game, scrambling and putting skills all a pre-requisite for success.

Rookie Ben Griffin has been consistent and solid in stats and performance. He's finished T-35 or better in eight of his last nine events while gaining strokes (total) in eight of those tournaments. His short game and scrambling strength will be beneficial this week, and with 3 strokes gained putting performances in four of his last seven starts, Griffin can move up sharply and contend if he's on his game this week.

The 26-year-old Georgia resident could be added to the dark horse picks as a longshot to watch, as this rookie is ready to crack the top 10 and contend for a win.

Pick: Ben Griffin to Win (+4100) or Finish Top 10/20
