2023 NBA MVP Odds See Nikola Jokic on Top After All-Star Game (But Who is the Best Bet?)

Updated:

The NBA All-Star break has come and gone, which means teams are now entering the playoff stretch and attempting to secure a top seed. Those efforts are guided by stars capable of single-handedly taking over games. It's those kind of players that gain recognition as possible MVP candidates, too.

A clear favorite remains in FanDuel Sportsbook's MVP odds and that is Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. The two-time reigning MVP has odds set at -240 as he currently leads the league in triple-doubles (9) and has his squad in first place in the Western Conference with a great 41-18 record.

The top three candidates are rounded out by Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (+600) and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (+700). Embiid finds himself ranked second in points per game this season (33.1), while Antetokompo checks in second in rebounds per game (12.2).

Here's a look at how the entirety of the NBA MVP odds shake out on FanDuel Sportsbook.

2023 NBA MVP Prediction & Best Bet

Jokic is the favorite here for a reason as the Nuggets have never been the No. 1 seed in the West. He is leading them to unexplored territory, but the matter of the fact is he has -240 odds. Laying down a large wager to get back any kind of worthwhile payout could be wiped away with an injury or collapse.

That's why backing Giannis Antetokounmpo is worth a shot at +700 odds. The Bucks are only 0.5 games back of the Boston Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference. The efforts of the Greek Freak are a big reason why as he is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.

Keep in mind those totals rival the ones he put up in when he was named NBA MVP in 2019 and 2020. Yes, Giannis is dealing with a wrist injury at the moment and is expected to miss some time. However, it is not expected to be a long-term issue. Once he comes back, his odds are only going to get lower.

If the Bucks earn a No. 1 seed and the Nuggets do not, look for Giannis to earn his third MVP award.

Bet: Giannis Antetokounmpo (+700)
